Feb 2022. WLU creates 12 faculty positions for Black and indigenous applicants only. It argues that hiring indigenous faculty will demonstrate action towards reconciliation.
In its letter, SAFS argues the reconciliation is not an academic goal and that "good intentions alone are never enough to exonerate such discreditable practices."

WLU President Commended for Exonerating Lindsay Shepherd Dec 2017. WLU President MacLatchy publicly announces that "There was no wrongdoing on the part of Ms. Shepherd in showing the clip from TVO in her tutorial." Prof Challenged for Disciplining TA for WrongThink Nov 2017. Christie Blatchford, in her National Post article of Nov 10, 2017, describes how TA, Lindsay Shepherd, was subjected to 40 minute-long struggle session by her Prof, Nathan Rambukkana, for the sin of showing a TVO clip in her tutorial.
